Theresa Morale, a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS ®), was inspired by her great-grandmother to work with older adults within the field of healthcare. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Gerontology in 1997 from Molloy College and immediately began work within the Therapeutic Recreation Department of a Long Island based skilled nursing facility. Mrs. Morale has remained continuously in the field of Therapeutic Recreation over the course of her 28 year-long health care career. She has worked full-time in both management and practitioner roles within long term skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation, ventilator dependent, medical model adult day care and social centers. She has earned her Masters in Health Administration (MHA) from Hofstra University- Hempstead, NY as well as her Certification as a CTRS ®. Staff positions include serving as Program Site Manager at the Life Enrichment Senior Citizens Center in Oyster Bay, Director of Therapeutic Recreation at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Queens, NY, Assistant Director of Therapeutic Recreation at Gurwin Jewish Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Commack, NY and Recreation Therapist at Parker Jewish medical model adult day care.
Her commitment to develop new ways to help older adults maximize abilities while bypassing deficits has strengthened with each passing year. In her current role as Founder and Chief of North Star Inclusive Recreation Solutions, LLC, Theresa uses her singing & music skills to facilitate a program called ‘Music, Mind & Movement’. She also offers a program called ‘Morale Continuing Education Series’. It is a 4 part interactive lifelong learning series for long-term care residents. In addition she conducts NCTRC pre-approved CEU workshops for colleagues and assistant staff at various organizations. In-Services for C.N.A.s are also available. These modules help facilities meet the 12 hour C.N.A. in-service regulation as set forth by CMS and New York State while teaching person-centered tools to improve quality of care and quality of life.
